Shingyozan Myoshoji Temple was founded on 5 December 1993 in the city of Madrid, Spain, by the 67th High Priest of the Head Temple, Nikken Shohin, who presided over the ceremony for the opening and enshrinement of the Gohonzon of this first Nichiren Shoshu Temple in Europe.
